1. INTRODUCTION
This essay will critical analyse how social networks has changed the way in which people communicate in the present society and it will further look in both the negative and positive that Facebook has brought in daily life activities.
2. HOW SOCIAL NETWORK HAS CHANGED COMMUNICATION
Social media has both negative and positive effects on the society, the way in which people the social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, and Email etc, on a daily basis it proves that individuals are impacted by those social platforms.
Individuals from different groups benefit differently from the use of social networks. In the olden days long distance communication was happening more like in a vacuum because one had to write a letter and wait for a period of two weeks for feedback, at some point a person might even die in the process of getting response. The use of social network or new media has changed the way in which people communicate, with the increasing technology feedback is now immediate even if the person or participant are not in a face to face conversation. "With the constant use of these social technologies, less people are communicating in person. Many people are becoming more isolated due to the lack of personal interaction. It is becoming easier to go through life with less personal confrontations and conversations"
3. SOCIAL NETWORKS USED TO MAKE RELATIONSHIP
Social networks, such as Facebook, were created for the sole purpose of helping individuals communicate. There are many other reasons that these technologies are used, but communication is still the number one. Many people use these networks to talk to their friends in other cities, states, or even other countries. There are many situations that do not allow the use of telephones; this is why social networking is preferable by many. These networks not only allow communication between friends, but allow you to meet new people. Similarities and common friends can create new bonds. Use their profile pictures as a way of casually showing themselves, their family, or possibly a recent trip they took.
On these networking sites, users normally create pages that represent them in some way. They post pictures of themselves and their friends. Their friends comment on these photos. This concept seems simple enough, but its use is very different depending on the age of the user. Adults are known to be more mature about what they post and how they interact, those clear pictures are very harmful to the user. Posting unsuitable pictures can be belittling and damaging reputations. The self-expression used on these networks should stay age appropriate. Users will receive more respect if they stick to pictures of their last vacation, birthday party, or field trip. According to Sharing one or more interest with you-sports, clothing, food, shopping, relationships, whatever- you and your offline friends have this in common
4. NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE IMPACTS OF FACEBOOK
Even though Facebook was created with the aim of making students and young adult share their common interest, but with time it has lost its true essence. In some students it has become a daily activity in way that it has turned into an addiction.
4.1. Positive
It is very beneficial for individuals that are away from their loved ones and want to keep in touch, specifically it can be seen as a great of interaction when people are away from their homes. It is very helpful for people who feel shyness in social interactions, it is a useful platform to make friends and share thoughts easily, and it can also be used as a refreshing break when a person want to run away from a tiring task.
The biggest drawback of Facebook is that it has a very narrow border line between favourite pass time and addiction.one starts using it initially to catch friends and ultimately ends up with a lot of lavish tame is talking playful quizzes and exploring various Facebook applications. It is quite distracting if not if not using within limits, for instance, a student may adopt the habit of updating his online status twice an hour . This is the reason that you will find many adults stick to their mobiles phones and laptops to check social networks website frequently.4.2. NegativePeople busy in their lives feel easy to communicate through Facebook but at times it become very annoying when virtual communication take place of real life meetings. Being a part of your family members’ life is good, but knowing about each and every moment of others personal lives can prove to be very dangerous at times. Involving others even in your small decisions or forcing your ideas in others decisions is hazardous for personal liberty. Facebook has given rise to gossiping as well, as people have found an easy way to communicate.
5. THE WORLD WIDE WEB (WWW)
The web allows individuals and organizations to display information, for all the world to see, in the form of text, photos, graphics, sound, animation, and even video . It is also a system for linking document through hyperlinks’.
6. ELECTRONIC EMAIL (E-MAIL)
E-mail enable subscribers to send letters, via internet, to anyone in the world who also has an e-mail address. Before the web, e-mail was the most powerful tool available to business on the internet.
7. CONCLUSION
Social media has impacted the individual’s life in different ways and it seemed as if it is the way people always imagined their lives having these kind of mediums for communication. This essay has looked in the changes brought by social media.
